ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Paris Block is a rehabilitation of the six-storey building originally constructed in 1907. The Paris Block was home to Pierre Paris shoes, maker of specialized boots for the logging industry for more than 70 years.
Salient redeveloped the building into 29 live-work units and one retail unit. Construction commenced in June 2007 and was completed November 2008. The project received an Award of Recognition from the City of Vancouver in 2009. It also received a Certificate of Recognition from Heritage BC.
For over 60 years The Paris Block was home to Pierre Paris & Sons - a logging boot manufacturer and shoe retailer. Today, the Paris family company continues as Paris Orthotics on West 4th Avenue.
Located on West Hastings, just a few skips from the Woodward's building redevelopment, the Paris Block is a heritage conversion completed in 2008 with 29 lofts within a 100-year-old 5-storey brick building. The Paris Annex was constructed right beside the Paris Block. These buildings have been fused into shared hallways, stairs, elevator, and foyer. The Paris Annex, 100 years the junior to the Paris Block gives life to 17 modern concrete pads. "It's a very interesting juxtaposition of old and new." - The Salient Group
